Alanis Morissette made sure her daughter Onyx's eighth birthday was one to remember during The Triple Moon Tour. Pausing her concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, the mother of three celebrated her daughter's special day by singing their classic hit "Ironic" together.
With the help of her husband Mario Treadway, Alanis brought Onyx onto the stage, where the young girl ran into her mother's embrace.
First, the "Jagged Little Pill" superstar led the crowd of 20,000 fans in singing "Happy Birthday" to Onyx, their rock 'n' roll hero joining in.
Then, the band kicked into the opening notes of "Ironic," with Onyx bravely singing the opening verse and receiving loving encouragement from her mom throughout the performance.
Onyx confidently sang the well-loved lyrics: "An old man turned ninety-eight / He won the lottery and died the next day," before her mother gently reminded her of the next lyrics.
'It's a black fly in your Chardonnay / It's a death row pardon two minutes too late / And isn't it ironic? Don't you think?'
The mother-daughter duo then harmonized on the chorus, prompting many in the audience to join in.

'It's like rain on your wedding day / It's a free ride when you've already paid / It's the good advice that you just didn't take / And who would've thought? It figures,' they sang with heartfelt emotion.
Alanis Morissette, known for hits like "You Oughta Know," embraced a classic rockstar look with black leather pants paired with a matching tank top under a shiny blue shirt left unbuttoned.
Completing her ensemble, the Ottawa, Ontario native wore her dark brown locks flowing long past her shoulders, styled with plenty of natural waves and a middle part.
Afterwards, Morissette shared a photo of their heartfelt duet on her Instagram page.
Morissette and Treadway, who married in 2010, are also proud parents to Ever, 13, and Winter, four.
"Ironic" was the fourth of six hit singles from her iconic album Jagged Little Pill, which achieved cultural phenomenon status upon its release in June 1995.
Morissette has announced plans to start working on her tenth studio album at the beginning of 2024. This upcoming project will mark her first album since 2022's "the storm before the calm."
"Well, I'm writing. I'll likely be starting to write a new record in 2024 so I'm super psyched about that," she told Variety back in December 2023.
