Queens of the Stone Age announced the cancelation of their European The End Is Nero tour's July shows due to Josh Homme's health issue.

On Instagram, the band shared an update regarding their supposed appearances at different European venues as their frontman, Josh Homme, raced to return to the U.S. for emergency surgery.

"Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue," the announcement read, adding, "Ticket holders for festivals, please visit the specific festival website for the updated information. Ticket holders for headline shows will be contacted directly from the point of purchase with further information."

The canceled shows include Queens of the Stone Age's supposed stops at the Festival Jardin Sonore in Vitrolles, Pohoda Festival in Trencin, Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin, Colours of Ostrava in Ostrava, METAstadt in Vienna, Electric Castle Festival in Cluj, SRC Salata in Zagreb and Athens Rocks in Athens.

The caption also read, "Queens are gutted we aren't able to play for you. We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment."

Queens of the Stone Age also canceled their AMA Festival performance a few days before the announcement, revealing that their decision was due to illness.

The band did not specify what exactly happened to Homme, but the singer was diagnosed with cancer in 2022.

Speaking with Revolver, he learned about his health issue after he and Brody Dalle divorced after 14 years of marriage. The condition ultimately affected the process of creating Queens of the Stone Age's new record at the time.

"I think this is the first time I didn't want to make a record, but I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life," he said. "We recorded a lot of stuff. I think I was doing it because when I'm in trouble, this is what I do. This is where I go to get right."

According to Homme, cancer became the "cherry on top" of the interesting period in his life. Despite his battle, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who had been there for him. He also underwent a successful operation to remove the affected part, which he did not disclose.

It remains unknown whether the surgery is related to his cancer diagnosis.
