The Weeknd New Music: Singer Drops Teaser for Final Album of Trilogy [Watch]

The Weeknd is finally completing his "After Hours" and "Dawn FM" trilogy, and fans can't wait for his new album.

On Tuesday, The Weeknd -- born Abel Tesfaye -- released a dramatic teaser trailer featuring snippets of new music, teasing that the third chapter of his latest trilogy is finally on the way.

"When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you," he wrote in the caption, quoting German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.

In the dreamy teaser shared via Instagram and X, a kid tries to escape a dark world where people are trying to capture him. The Weeknd's menacing vocals serve as the soundtrack as he makes a spectacular getaway toward the sky.

"I'm falling at the speed of light/I'm staring at your shrinking face, don't cry/You know my heart belongs," The Weeknd sings in the track, whose title appears to be "The Abyss."

In the song, fans can hear the singer's angelic tenor over ominous bleeps and drones. It intensifies, but the preview ends just as the beat drops.

"This sounds insane," one fan wrote, while another user said: "THE KING IS BACK!!!"

The upcoming album will follow 2020's "After Hours" and 2022's "Dawn FM."

In October 2023, The Weeknd performed two shows in São Paulo as part of his "After Hours Til Dawn Tour." After the tour raked in $192.5 million, his journey landed at No. 8 on Billboard Boxscore's top tours of 2023.

"Dawn FM" sold 148,000 album-equivalent copies in its first week of release, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

The singer hinted at previous interviews that this album would be the last one released under the name The Weeknd, intending to "kill" the persona.

"The album I'm working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd," Abel said in 2023. "This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I've said everything I can say."
