"Fancy" singer Iggy Azalea says she is raising her son with ex Playboi Carti all by herself.
Azalea -- whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly -- quietly welcomed her son, Onyx, into the world in 2020 and made his arrival public a few months later.
On Wednesday, the 34-year-old rapper spoke on the Jesse Tyler Ferguson-hosted "Dinner's On Me" podcast. Despite previously saying that Onyx "had both parents in his life from day 1," Azalea claimed in her new interview that she is currently a "single mother" to her now-4-year-old son.
"I'm very much a single mother. I'm very much the only parent. No disrespect, but I am not co-parenting, really. That's just the reality of it." she frankly revealed to the "Modern Family" actor. "It's 24/7."
Azalea and Carti, born Jordan Terrell Carter, announced their breakup four months after Onyx was born in 2020.
Later in the podcast, Azalea talked about how having her son and becoming a mother inspired her to slow down and focus on being in the moment.
She explained that she no longer wanted to travel everywhere and just wanted to drive her son to school. She noted that she wants him to have plenty of memories with her as it is really important to her.
The "Black Widow" hitmaker went on to talk about navigating parenthood allegedly without much of a presence from the "Whole Lotta Red" artist, crediting her mother with her "success" as a parent.
"I owe my success in large part to my mother because she spent so much time with me, and she just really gassed me up and made me think I was a superwoman genius, dancer extraordinaire, painter extraordinaire, chef, whatever it was," Azalea said. "And it's important to me, even when my son's only 4, that I know I'm there, instilling that confidence in him and just helping guide him."
"It's my job as a parent," she explained. "I think if you're going to have a child, you should be prepared to do that and engage in that way. And I really want to. I toured two years with my son on a bus and it was time for that to end."
In February 2023, Azalea discussed her breakup with Carti when she appeared on model Emily Ratajkowski's podcast, "High Low With EmRata." She claimed that their relationship was "volatile," and she was tired of the "toxic cycle."
"I had something happen one day with my son's father and me and it was just like one of those moments where you're just like, I didn't wake up thinking this is what my day would be. But by the end of the day, I was on a plane to Los Angeles and I never went back. And that was the end of it," she said.
