Rod Stewart is at peace with the concept of death, stating that he harbors no apprehension about it ahead of his upcoming 80th birthday in January.
Looking ahead, the "I Don't Want to Talk About It" crooner told The Sun in a new interview that he hopes to enjoy another 15 years of life, though he recognizes that his "days are numbered."
Despite his advancing years, Stewart said he plans to maintain his vibrant rock 'n' roll lifestyle without any intentions of slowing down.
Stewart is committed to entertaining and celebrating well into his 90s His final Las Vegas residency dates will end on Aug. 7. The British rock and pop star kicked off his first show last week and showed no signs of slowing down.
The music legend told The Sun, "I'm aware my days are numbered but I've got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few -- probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy."
He went on to confess, "I'm not like I was in the '70s and '80s, and I can't stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays, I have to protect my voice before and after every show."
But while people might assume he only has water on his rider nowadays, Stewart made it clear that's not the case.
"We go mad after every show. There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it," the "First Cut Is the Deepest" hitmaker revealed.
Stewart, who battled prostate and thyroid cancer, emphasized the importance of prioritizing health as people age.
"I am more aware of my health now than before. You should be when you start getting on a bit. It's very important," he shared. "I am a bit of a hypochondriac. I think men in particular should take advantage of all the wonderful medical science out there."
To stay fit, the '60s icon said he engages in physical exercise three to four times daily. His partnership with a personal trainer, spanning over 30 years, is reportedly his guiding force in maintaining his health and wellness.
Stewart shared that he is also building a racetrack within the grounds of his estate in Essex in pursuit of setting a new world record for the 100-meter sprint in his age category.
While Stewart will soon bid farewell to Sin City after consistently filling 90% of the Colosseum at Caesars Palace each night, fans may still see him back in the spotlight sooner than expected.
Rumor has it that a brief tour in the U.K. alongside Jools Holland is being considered to promote their upcoming collaborative album, "Swing Fever," which was released early this year.
