Before his wife Cardi B initiated divorce proceedings after seven years of marriage, Offset faced significant financial setbacks in the form of two huge tax liens amounting to $1.6 million.
The U.S. Sun reported that the 32-year-old Migos rapper was served with a federal tax lien of $1,575,266 in April.
Offset's debt has not been settled and remains unpaid, a court clerk told the outlet. However, it's worth noting that Cardi has no relation to the lien.
Additionally, in a separate lien registered with the state of California on June 11, Offset seems to have an outstanding debt of $32,963, according to the outlet.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, has a net worth of $28 million, while his soon-to-be ex-wife Cardi has an estimated fortune of $80 million.
Cardi filed for divorce from the "Open It Up" rapper Wednesday. This development, initially disclosed by Page Six, follows a seven-year marriage between the prominent hip-hop figures.
Cardi is reportedly seeking primary custody of their 5-year-old daughter Kulture and 2-year-old son Wave.
According to the "Bodak Yellow" rapper's rep, who spoke to Billboard, the divorce filing "is not based on any one particular incident, it has been a long time coming and is amicable."

A day after the filing, the "WAP" hitmaker joyfully announced the exciting news that she's expecting her third baby on Instagram Thursday.
Cardi revealed her baby bump and penned a heartfelt message to her third child on the way, expressing gratitude for bringing her "more love" and "more life" and renewing her "power."
She added, seemingly referring to the end of her marriage, "With every ending comes a new beginning!"
This divorce filing marks the second time Cardi has sought to end her marriage with Offset since their wedding in 2017.
Even though they told fans in September 2020 that infidelity wasn't the cause, rumors of cheating, especially by Offset, have haunted their relationship since the beginning.
However, just weeks after her first divorce filing, the "I Like It" rapper disclosed that she and Offset had resolved their issues, leading to the dismissal of the case at the beginning of November 2020.
In the following years, their love story endured several challenges, including additional cheating speculations and a public disagreement on social media.
The mom-of-two eventually announced their separation by revealing her single status during a live broadcast in December 2023, saying, "I've been single for a minute now."
