Suge Knight has stirred controversy once again by suggesting that alleged secret recordings of Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Diddy" Combs might have played a role in her rumored split from Ben Affleck.
During a recent episode of his "Collect Call" podcast, Knight discussed the possibility that the FBI confiscated tapes potentially featuring Lopez from Diddy's properties that federal agents raided earlier this year as part of a sex trafficking investigation.
This claim is unconfirmed. Authorities have not disclosed the contents of electronic devices that ABC News said were seized from the rapper's Los Angeles and Miami homes in March.
In 1999, Lopez was dating Combs when they were arrested and charged for a shooting in Manhattan. Charges were dropped against her, while the hip-hop mogul was later acquitted following a trial.
Knight claimed on his podcast that the FBI may have reached out to Affleck and presented him with alleged tapes of Lopez and Combs, leading to his strained marriage with the singer-actress.
"I'm quite sure they [FBI] probably called," the former CEO of Death Row Records claimed, as heard in a clip obtained by AllHipHop. "And the FBI gave respect and a courtesy call to Ben Affleck. It's a white man who got respect in the white world. I'm quite sure they said, 'We want to show you some things about your wife.'"
Knight went on to speculate that the "Gone Girl" actor's perspective on the "Jenny From the Block" singer may have shifted significantly after listening and watching the alleged recordings.
"When [Affleck saw] the s**t that her and Puff was doing and who they be doing it with, I'm quite sure that they gave his a*s those tapes and I'm quite sure he can never look at her the same," the convicted felon claimed.
"I'm quite sure they headed for divorce because that's a man who had a good life. Great parents don't spend a lot of money. Ain't tripping off paparazzi, he's living his life. He got his own team. She done brought all that extra s**t out and now that motherf**ka he wants out," Knight alleged.
Lopez and Diddy crossed paths in 1999 while working together on her music video for "If You Had My Love" and soon began dating.
Their relationship ended in 2001 following allegations of infidelity against the rapper.
Lopez moved on with Affleck, to whom she was engaged until 2004. The couple rekindled their romance nearly two decades later and tied the knot in 2022.
However, Lopez and Affleck have been the subject of split rumors in recent months after the two began living apart and ditching their wedding rings. They have not commented on the rumors.
Despite Knight's claims, an unnamed insider recently told the Daily Mail that there's a different reason why Affleck and Lopez are allegedly headed for a divorce. According to the source, he was reportedly prioritizing his well-being over his relationship with the "Hustlers" star.
The "Argo" actor was allegedly upset and felt unwell when he learned that his wife was launching an alcohol brand. This move reportedly seemed like a slap in the face following Affleck's struggles with sobriety, which he had worked hard to maintain after multiple stints in rehab.
"Ben had to fight to get his life back after overcoming alcohol," the source said. "Knowing how he lost everything, including the love of his family, knowing that he could possibly relapse, Jen decided to start her own spritzer line for more money, as if she did not have enough."
The insider added, "This was one of the things that broke the camel's back. But Ben saved his sobriety."
