Lil Wayne's Rare Lyric Notebook From Hot Boys Era Up for Auction for $5M After 5-Year Ownership Dispute

Lil Wayne's old lyric notebook from the 1990s is now up for auction after years-long dispute over its ownership.

The notebook, which contains handwritten lyrics from Lil Wayne's early Hot Boys days, hit the market with a hefty price tag of $5 million earlier this month. Fans can check it out here.

The notepad features lyrics from the rapper's verses on "We On Fire" and "I Feel" off the Hot Boys' second album "Guerrilla Warfare," according to Billboard.

Moments In Time, the company officiating the sale, fought for five years to demonstrate that it could sell the notebook.

Moments in Time first listed the notebook in 2019 for $250,000. The website took action on behalf of a client, who claimed he discovered the notepad containing scribbled lyrics by Wayne in a car that once belonged to Cash Money Records.

Wayne threatened to shut down the business if they listed the notebook and demanded the item back.

A judge declared in February that the website was allowed to sell the notebook after Wayne failed to respond. Moments In Time verified this in a legal document posted on the auction page for the notebook.

Wayne has enjoyed yet another successful year despite the minor legal setback. Over the past few years, he has created a portfolio of great feature verses. He added to that by appearing on "Saturday Mornings" by Cordae.

Back in May, Hot Boys' Juvenile announced that the group's original members were reuniting to record their first album in 20 years.

However, in late June, Wayne said on "Not Just Football With Cam Heyward" that he wasn't aware of any Hot Boys reunion album, though he confirmed that he was willing to record verses for it.

B.G. and Turk have been going back and forth as well. A reunion will likely have to wait until those two get their issues resolved.

Wayne's notebook is far from the first piece of hip-hop memorabilia to be sold off. Regular auctions feature personal items from an artist's collection and clothes worn to concerts.
