New updates about Zac Efron's swimming pool incident in Ibiza have surfaced.
The 36-year-old star reportedly needed medical attention after hitting the pool's floor during a dive early Saturday morning, TMZ reported.
According to the outlet's anonymous sources, Efron misjudged the depth of the pool before diving into the water, leading to his chest hitting the bottom. He also ingested water into his lungs.
Efron was rescued by two villa staff members.
Following the incident, the "Start of Something New" singer experienced momentary disorientation and was immediately transported to a medical facility as a precautionary measure.
After the water had been removed from his lungs, as shown in a chest X-ray, the doctors gave Efron the green light to leave the hospital. However, he reportedly decided to stay longer to avoid the photographers lurking outside.
He got out of the hospital the following day.
The "High School Musical" actor is reportedly in good condition following his brief hospital stay.
A representative for Efron previously informed TMZ that the star was hospitalized for observation due to a minor swimming mishap but left the hospital early Saturday.
However, the rep did not reveal the specifics of the incident that caused Efron -- who has been captured in several European destinations, such as Ibiza, St. Tropez, Mykonos, and Paris, over the past month -- distress in the pool.
Efron later broke his silence on the accident by sharing a photo on Instagram with the caption, "Happy and healthy, thanks for the well wishes."
Efron's recent hospitalization came years after a 2013 incident that involved him fracturing his jaw. The injury occurred when he slipped while running in his home with socks on, resulting in his chin hitting a solid granite fountain.
In a 2022 interview with Men's Health magazine, the "A Family Affair" star recalled how he lost consciousness and woke up to find his chin bone hanging off his face.
Efron described how his masseter muscles in his face and jaw underwent significant growth to compensate for the damage from the injury, ultimately resulting in his noticeable physical transformation. Many social media users initially thought he underwent plastic surgery.
He attributes the change in his appearance to the growth of his masseters, stating, "They just got really, really big."
"If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do," Efron told the magazine. "I definitely wouldn't be able to do this work."
