In 2011, Taylor Swift released her first fragrance, Wonderstruck, which was described as having topnotes of "vibrant fruits, kissed by a bouquet of soft petals and a touch of sweet indulgence," middle notes of "freesia, apple blossom and raspberry spark a swirl of vibrancy and feminine allure" and bottom notes of "golden amber and sandalwood that are woven with a kiss of lush peach." Women of all ages adored the scent and it was a big commercial success.
Wonderstruck Enchanted debuted in 2012. In a press release, Tay described the scent as being "about that moment when you instantly feel a connection to someone, but then there’s that feeling of being completely enamored—enchanted—when you know a little more about that someone and still feel that strong connection." That instant sizzle was based on white musk, hypnotic vanilla and blonde woods with Peony, sugar-glazed Champaca petals and White Freesia shining through the middle and wild berries, Pink Poppy and passion fruit topping it off. An even bigger hit than its predecessor, Wonderstruck Enchanted cemented Swift's place in the smell good industry.
Another year, another fragrance, with 2013 giving us less fairytale and more Taylor herself with the release of Taylor by Taylor Swift. At the top, "a burst of fresh fruits and flowers, blending luscious lychee and sparkling tangerine with a whisper of magnolia petals" started things off. The middle notes featured some of Taylor's favorite flowers - peonies, hydrangeas and vanilla orchids. At the base, " creamy sandalwood, warmed by an inviting mixture of apricot nectar, cashmere musk and a blend of woods" gave it warmth. The press release called it "A mix of a lot of things – it’s sweet, it’s sophisticated, it draws you in – it’s really my way of translating classic, yet modern, into a perfume."
Following the trend, as we settle into fall, Taylor has announced her next fragrent venture - Incredible Things. The casual scent will hit Kohl's later this month and it reads like it will be a clean, yet sweet scent with a hint of allure thrown in. Top notes of vanilla orchid, suede flower and creamy musk meet middle notes of pink pepper, sparkling grapefruit and wild passion flower. At the low end, white amber, Madagascar vanilla and Haitian vetiver all anchor it together. In the press release, Tay's new line is described as a way to share her love of ordinary people doing amazing things with their lives. "Taylor lives her life with an open heart, and by sharing her personal stories through music, art and fragrance, she helps inspire her fans to follow their heart, to be their own artist — to do incredible things. Channeling Taylor’s inherent ability to see beauty in the world, she encourages her fans to do the same."
