Global Citizen Festival eBay Auction Features Mr. Brainwash Portrait of Jay Z and Other Art To Raise Money For Poverty [PHOTOS]

Global Citizen partnered with eBay to hold the 2014 Global Citizen Festival in New York City to help end extreme poverty by the year 2030. The charitable act was backed by celebrities including Carrie Underwood, No Doubt, Jessica Alba, and others who signed memorabilia that is now being auctioned off to raise money for various charities. Among the items is a portrait of Jay Z by Mr. Brainwash.

As reported by Complex, the auction also features a mixed media work that Peter Tunney created specifically for the festival.

Global Citizen recently wrapped its third year of festivities. Jay Z performed "Holy Grail" with a special appearance from Beyoncé. Other performers included fun., Alicia Keys, The Roots and Tiesto.

Queen Silvia of Sweden, Prime Minister Narenda Modi of India, Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway and President Obama (via video) were also present (Billboard).

Prior to the festival, Jay released a statement about his decision to sign on to the charity project. "Change only takes place when and where there is action," the rapper said. "I'm joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible."

The Jay Z portrait has a starting price of $25,000 and the Tunney piece starts at $50,000. Bidding ends on the original artworks and the other items in the auction on Monday, October 6. If interested, place your bid here.
