Fans of the long-running show Friends, who were willing to wait a few hours in line to see a replica of the show’s fictional “Central Perk” coffee shop, got a special surprise from singer-songwriter Colbie Calliat this weekend.
On Friday, the singer, who is apparently a super-fan of the TV series, stopped by the pop-up shop in Manhattan and performed Phoebe Buffay’s most well-known hit, “Smelly Cat,” with help from fans as well as her own original single “Try.” She had been in New York promoting the release of her new album, Gypsy Heart.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Friends premiere, Eight O’Clock Coffee teamed up with Warner Bros. to build a pop-up replica of the iconic Central Perk. They also created the limited-edition Central Perk Roast, which fans can try for free.
The shop can be found at the corner of Lafayette and Broome in SoHo and will remain open through October 18.
Caillat’s fifth studio album Gypsy Heart, produced by Babyface, was released September 30 via Republic. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
