Colbie Caillat made a big comeback as a solo artist last year and even though she had the opportunity to work alone on a project many years ago, her 2023 record was the first time in a long while she finally focused on herself and songwriting in general.

According to Taste of Country, the musician had been a pop singer-songwriter most of her life, especially in the 2000s and 2010s. Some of her biggest hits include "Bubbly," "Try," and many more.

Caillat later delved into the world of country music when her band called Gone West was formed in 2018. The group consisted of two real-life couples: her and ex-partner Justin Young as well as Nelly Joy and Jason Reeves.

In 2020, Caillat and Young decided to go separate ways and put an end to their relationship after being together for a decade. That was also the time when the band's career ended.

At the time when Caillat wrote her latest solo album, she was going through a hard time as she just come from a breakup after being in a relationship for a decade.

Most of the songs were very personal to the point that she had to wait for a long time before releasing it because she needed to heal first.

When promoting her album, the musician revealed that three of the songs were written by herself alone and she was so proud of what she did.

The reason why she was so happy was because most of the time, she would collaborate with a co-writer, but in this album, she would start writing alone and finish three of them by herself.

"They're super honest and real of what I've gone through in this breakup... I feel like because I'm back to being a solo artist, I was able to write these songs by myself," she added.
