If you happened to catch Teresa and Joe Giudice's interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live then you no doubt heard about the couples' plan to survive prison. Teresa is scheduled to begin serving a 15-month sentence on January 5 and at first it was believed that she would be incarcerated in Connecticut. Teresa and Joe discussed how he would drive their four daughters to visit each week so that the family could stay connected throughout the ordeal. Now we're learning that Teresa is much more likely to be headed to Alderson Federal Prison Camp in West Virginia—also known as "camp cupcake."
Apparently the Connecticut facility is in the process of converting to a prison housing only men and because of the length of Teresa's sentence it's unlikely that she would be housed there. Alderson is also where Martha Stewart served her time several years ago. The inmates live in cottages rather than cells and spend their days doing all sorts of manual labor. In between cooking and cleaning Teresa will also be able to take yoga class. The one thing that she won't be able to do is see her daughters regularly.
While Joe was prepared to make the drive to Connecticut each week there is no way that he's going to clock over a thousand miles round trip to visit Teresa. In the past this couple would have thought nothing of putting the family on a flight but money isn't exactly something that they have much of and things will only be tighter with Teresa, the breadwinner, locked up first.
Perhaps the real punishment in this situation for Teresa is the fact that she really is going to be separated from her kids. Visits will be few and far between so if she wasn't already resenting her husband's illegal business dealings you better believe she's going to start to pretty quickly. How often do you think that Joe, who admits to having a problem with alcohol, will be willing to take the kids to visit their mother? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
