Las Vegas Declares November 5 To Be 'Britney Day' In Honor Of Pop Star Britney Spears

In honor of Britney Spears' Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, the city will celebrate "Britney Day" on Nov. 5.

Spears has been a part of The City of Lights since 2013, MTV News reports, and apparently Vegas digs the singer enough to give her a key to the city. "#BritneyDay in LV, Nov 5th! What an honor!! Can't wait to celebrate with you Vegas. See y'all there??" Spears tweeted Thursday (Oct. 23).

According to the artist's website, the LINQ Promenade will host fans on November 5 and the first 100 people named Britney will get tickets to her "Britney: Piece of Me" show, which is an ongoing event that will host the pop star through December 2015. She's the first artist to score a residency at Planet Hollywood's AXIS theater.

"This is such a sweet thing to do," Spears said, announcing the show last year. "I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless. This is shocking. We wanted the environment to be that way so people could come and have a good time and stand up and feel like they're in the show with me. I love Vegas. The energy here is really, really good."

TMZ reported that Spears would be making an impressive $310,000 per show, equating to $15 million a year for the residency.

Her last album, 2013's Britney Jean, was Spears' first release for RCA Records after longtime label Jive shut down. It peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "So Britney's back in the game, brushing all the riffraff away from her pop throne," Rob Sheffield wrote for Rolling Stone. "Even though we're in the middle of a pop-princess pileup this winter, with Miley, Katy, Gaga and more elbowing for room on the dance floor, Britney remains the queen who out-bangs, out-booms, out-bizarres them all."
