Those who picked up the new Basement Tapes box set got a surprise in the liner notes, where Dylan revealed his next studio album, Shadows In The Night.
The 73-year-old already gave us a preview of the record with a cover of Frank Sinatra's "Full Moon and Empty Arms," but Consequence of Sound reports that, thanks to the Basement notes, a full 2015 album is now official.
His most recent album was 2012's Tempest, which scored generally positive reviews (what else is new?).
"Lyrically, Dylan is at the top of his game, joking around, dropping wordplay and allegories that evade pat readings and quoting other folks' words like a freestyle rapper on fire," wrote Rolling Stone. "'Narrow Way' is one of Dylan's most potent rockers in years, and it borrows a chorus from the Mississippi Sheiks' 1934 blues 'You'll Work Down to Me Someday.' 'Scarlet Town' draws on verses by 19th-century Quaker poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier; and allusions to Louis Armstrong and the Isley Brothers pop up elsewhere."
