This past weekend, Bacardi flew 1,862 (the number is significant to the date that Bacardi was founded) people down to a small island off of the coast of Puerto Rico called Palomino that lies within the infamous Bermuda Triangle. Ellie Goulding, Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris joined the revelers for a Halloween weekend to remember with parties from dusk until dawn in one of the most mysterious and serene areas of the world.
The party had not just Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris on the bill. Supporting acts were brought on to play the after parties that kept the party going well into the night. Not to be outdone by the headliners, names like Tensnake, AC Slaker, Nadastrom, Sinden and others all kept the party going throughout the weekend.
The party was a big gamble for Bacardi as they put a huge investment into flying down 1,862 fans free of charge and hosting them on a rented out island for a three-day weekend. The pick of headliners was a safe bet as Ellie Goudling is cemented herself as a premiere pop performer, though she has not been too prolific with releases recently, besides the well-timed collaboration alongside Calvin Harris "Outside".
With his scheduled SNL performance, the success of "i" and the upcoming album, Lamar is about as hot a rapper as there is in the genre. For Harris, the weekend show comes days before the release of his album Motion, so such a high profile event would be beneficial to the album promotion.
The coincidence of going down to the Bermuda Triangle on Halloween apparently did not spook many, and according to MTV, the event appears to have been a resounding success. Luckily for pop music, this wasn't a one-way trip and all three of these bonafide superstars made it back alive.
