Philip Glass Scores Harry Smith's 'Early Abstractions' @ Film-Makers' Cooperative Benefit

Penciled in between Elliott Sharp's guitar accompaniment to Paul Sharits' Ray Gun Virus and the sex type skronk of Transgendered Jesus, Philip Glass doing Harry Everett Smith was touted as headlining the Eighth Annual Music and Film Benefit Concert and Art Auction for the Film-Makers' Cooperative.

Introduced by M.M. Serra and Joel Schlemowitz, as he's done before, Glass took the stage at Santos Party House to play ahead of Smith's 16mm Early Abstractions (1946-52).

And in keeping with our glib summations of recent pianistic minimalism, you'll find all ye need know below.

This being a benefit and all, I'm compelled to tell that I started the bidding on a truly delightful sketch by Ms. Candy Darling.

As with Glass's arpeggios for Smith's squiggles, I, too, did not win.
