The sisters of the indie-rock trio Haim are streaming their upcoming debut album, Days Are Gone, on NPR one week ahead of its official release.
Sisters Danielle, Alana and Este Haim have been working on this album, more or less, since their childhood. According to Consequence of Sound, the band has played shows on and off since 2007, but had to take a break while the sisters were off perusing educations and touring with other bands. The sisters officially got back together in 2012 and decided it was time to make an album. They have enlisted Dash Hutton of the Los Angeles band Wires on Fire to play drums.
Haim sounds like a mix of Fleetwood Mac, TLC, Destiny's Child and Shania Twain, or what Vogue calls, "stripped-back nu-folk-meets-nineties-R&B-pop."
The band has toured with Mumford & Sons, opened for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Florence and the Machine, and has made its way around the festival circuit.
Days Are Gone is the follow-up to the 2012 EP, Forever. The 11-track effort, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Usher, Vampire Weekend) and James Ford (Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys), is scheduled for official release Sept. 30 (via Columbia). It includes the standout singles, "Don't Save Me," "Falling," and "The Wire."
