On Friday, Christy Mack came face to face with the man who allegedly intended to kill her last August. The former adult film star testified against Jonathan Koppenhaver, the former MMA fighter known as "War Machine" and kept her cool on the stand even while he smirked and laughed at her testimony. Mack described in detail how Koppenhaver broke into her Las Vegas home on Aug. 8 and went berserk when he found her with Corey Thomas. Mack suffered 18 broken bones, broken teeth and a ruptured liver before escaping while her ex allegedly went to the kitchen to get another knife.
Mack claims that Koppenhaver beat her with his fists and had a knife from her kitchen on her at all times. While Mack's testimony is horrific, even she broke down when prosecutors played back the tape from her 911 call that she managed to make early on in the assault. Thomas also testified under oath regarding his injuries, saying that he believed that he was going to die on the floor of Mack's bathroom.
At one point the judge asked if there had been other instances of sexual abuse in their relationship, to which Mack answered yes and explained in detail. That testimony paved the way for Koppenhaver to be charged with two more felonies. At one point the judge reprimanded him for snickering during Mack's testimony and made sure that his behavior was noted on the official record.
When all was said and done, all 32 charges against Koppenhaver were upheld and his next court date is next week. If convicted, Koppenhaver could be facing life in prison for his viscous attack on Mack.
