The streak continues atop the Billboard Digital Downloads chart: Taylor Swift is at no. 1 with current single "Blank Space" and that means for the 15th week in a row, the chart has been topped by either she or Meghan Trainor. Swift sold 328,000 downloads of "Blank Space" last week, a number that has risen as sales of whole album go down (and by "go down" we mean "sold only 312,000 copies this week).
Trainor seems to be losing some ground (but not much) with "All About That Bass," the track she has topped the downloads chart with seven nonconsecutive weeks this year. That single falls to no. 3 with 126,000 downloads sold, ceding the no. 2 spot to Hozier and his hit "Take Me To Church," which moved 131,000.
Maroon 5 and "Animals" stayed strong, sticking at no. 4 with 124,000 downloads sold, marking the second consecutive week the track has seen an increase in sales. Swift's first single from her hit album 1989, "Shake It Off," fell by more than 28 percent to no. 5 with 93,000 units moved however. As many fans already have the single downloaded, the song's sales got another boost from those who opted to "complete my purchase" on iTunes. Now that fewer people are downloading the album as a whole, the sales numbers for "Shake It Off" appear to have dropped significantly.
Sam Smith and "I'm Not The Only One" continue to rise slowly but surely, this week moving up one spot to no. 6 with 93,000 units moved. Meanwhile Nick Jonas makes his first appearance on behalf of his single "Jealous," which saw a nearly 40 percent increase in downloads this week, moving 83,000 copies.
Two more Top 10 debuts come in for the last three spots on the chart this week. I Love Makonnen rises to no. 8 with "Tuesday" (maybe with a little help from Drake). That single sold 69,000 downloads. Tove Lo Comes in between the two newer songs, as her "Habits (Stay High)," sold another 67,000 copies and took no. 9. The last entry this week is Big Sean who charts at no. 10 with "I Don't F--- With You," which moved 65,000 downloads.
