T.I. has had no issues convincing anyone of Iggy Azalea's superstardom but her win for Favorite Hip-Hop album at the AMAs solidified the point at hand. After the "Booty" rapper beat out Eminem and Drake, the Hustle Gang head honcho shared just how Azalea impressed him.
In a web exclusive from his Oprah: Where Are They Now? appearance, Tip says he and Azalea had their first conversation in 2012 and he instantly knew she would be a star.
"I knew upon meeting her that, you know, with the proper application of skill and an adequate amount of strategy, that she would have an ability to go where no one has ever gone and do things that no person has ever done."
Since the release of her debut album, The New Classic, Azalea has been topping the charts with hits like "Fancy," "Work" and "Black Widow." According to T.I., this is only the beginning for the Australian rapper.
"Like where she is now, although she is just incredibly impressive, the amount of trajectory that she has gained, in the amount of time it's taken, it is epic," he said. "It is just incredible."
The two took the stage together to accept Azalea's award for Favorite Hip-Hop album. She thanked T.I. and her fans during her acceptance speech.
"This award is the first award I've ever won in my entire life, and it means so much to me that it's for best hip-hop because that's what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams and it's what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times," she said. "It means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this. It's amazing and thank you so much to T.I. for believing in me and to all my fans."
Iggy Azalea's Reclassified album is available for purchase on iTunes now.
