It's been a great year for Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman and actor Jared Leto. His band is still at a high point following the release of 2013's Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams, and the singer is basking in Hollywood's limelight as well. Leto took home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club, which he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey, who also won a statue for Best Actor. Rumors have since surfaced that Leto is going to star in DC's Suicide Squad as The Joker, a role that has won praise for Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger.
"You know, there's a film called Fight Club, my friend, and you know what the first rule is, don't you?" Leto told MTV News recently, referencing the "You do not talk about Fight Club" line. The double entertainment threat said he's been reading scripts after his "incredible year" and still trying to figure out what's going to be best for him.
"I'm not really in a hurry to jump into another film unless it's something that I absolutely can't say no to," he added. "I want to make sure it's special because the previous experiences were really, really special and fortunately I have music and other things in my life to keep me really busy."
So it sounds like Leto's at least considering it since The Joker is such a coveted role, especially after the success of 2008's The Dark Knight. However, it also sounds like Leto could be working on some new music with Thirty Seconds to Mars, which also wouldn't be a bad thing.
Either way, check out this clip from 2009's Mr. Nobody in which Leto showcases a maniacal laugh that would be perfect for The Joker.
