Rap beefs do not begin in the hood anymore — they begin on Instagram. That is where Timbaland recently posted the new logo for Mosley Music Group, his Sony imprint.
Inconspicuous, yes? Rick Ross didn’t think so. Apparently the "MMG" insignia is too much like Ross’s Maybach Music Group.
This seems dumb, right? A fight over a logo? But it makes more sense given that Ross is still #SuperSalty at Timbo for recreating a better version of “Movin’ Bass” with Jay-Z.
"Timbaland released his version, I was real disappointed in hearing [that]," Ross told Sway Calloway last month. "Me and Jay created the original version. That's one of the records we vibed up when we had a couple sessions. Of course Timbaland produced it and had the production on it for a little while, I went by the studio before, he played me the [alternate] version. I was like, 'I see what you did, but chill on that. We doing our thing on that.' I was disappointed in homie on that."
RR is mostly mad that people think Timbaland’s was the original.
“That’s one of the things that I was disappointed in homie with,” Ross said. “We bigger than that. We bosses. And I expect homie to clarify that whenever he make his rounds. But most definitely me and Jay did that record and it is what it is.”
The two clearly have not mended their relationship since.
"He gotta handle that,” Ross said. “He gotta fix that. He most definitely gotta fix that."
