'RHONJ's' Joe Giudice is Planning on Serving Wife Teresa with Divorce Papers Once She Starts Jail Term in January

Well, this story comes as a bit of a surprise. Ever since Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months behind bars as her punishment for her part in a slew of financial crimes, there have been rumors that once The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is released, she will file for divorce. Unless of course, her husband Joe Giudice beats her to the punch!

According to a report by Radar Online, Joe is taking responsibility for resorting to shady and dishonest business practices to rake in enough money to satisfy his wife. But he is insisting that the pressure from her was a huge catalyst in him making such illegal decisions and the resentment is running pretty deep. Not that Joe has ever been pegged as husband of the year either. He has often been spotted out with other women and rumors of his infidelity have plagued the couple for years now.

Sources close to Joe claim that once Teresa turns herself in on Jan. 5 to begin serving her time there's a really good chance that Joe will have her served with divorce papers pretty quickly. Rather than pulling together these last few months the couple has instead opted to go in opposite directions, plus Joe has admitted to having a serious drinking problem that has only gotten worse under the present circumstances.

The idea of this couple splitting up isn't really a surprise at all but the idea that it could be Joe who pulls the trigger first is a bit unexpected, don't you think? Plus, the timing is interesting. We already know that Teresa is the one who has always been hands-on with their four kids and in a few short weeks all of that responsibility is going to be on his plate whether they are still together or not on paper.

Do you think these latest rumors are true? Will Joe file for divorce once Teresa is locked up, making it a bit trickier to really contest? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
