If you tuned in to Vanderpump Rules last night then you already have caught a glimpse of the newest cast member, Vail Bloom. While interviewing for a hostess job at one of Lisa Vanderpump's three restaurants Bloom made a pretty solid impression. Even the impossible-to-please Vanderpump thought she was too perfect because she seems so totally together. It didn't take too long for us to get a sense of who Bloom really is, and the fact of the matter is that she is so put together because she has already fallen apart.
Bloom defined herself as a struggling actor that needs another job to help pay the bills. The fact is, daytime fans may recognize Bloom from her stint as Heather Stevens on The Young and the Restless. She portrayed the character for three years before leaving back in 2010 and at the time she had some personal demons to expel.
"I was on The Young and the Restless for just under three years and I was starting to get into this whole like ... what seemed like the Hollywood lifestyle, and I was starting to get into a little bit of trouble with drugs. Obviously, I'm doing well now. I meditate twice a day. I have myself together, but I certainly have a history. It just made the lows, really low. I always have to be kind of on guard and not surround myself with people that [would take me down the wrong path] ... I'm strong, but I don't want to be subjecting myself to it all the time," explained Bloom last night.
So she is taking the brutally honest approach before stepping into the glare of reality television. Vanderpump Rules isn't necessarily the best environment for someone with addiction issues to choose to spend their time in. However, Bloom had to have had a clue of what she was getting herself into and perhaps the lure of a decent paycheck from Bravo is more pressing than the fear of relapse. Are you glad to see Bloom back on television again? We've got to hand it to Bravo, they keep tapping into daytime to grab new stars for their reality shows and it really seems to be working some magic on the ratings!
