Why is Jadakiss as nice as it gets? The New York rapper stopped by a shelter for homeless women and children earlier this week to help spread some Christmas cheer. He handed out toys to about 50 children at the York Street Project shelter to make the holidays a little brighter for the less-fortunate, NJ.com notes.
"Whenever you are able to be a part of giving back to anybody less fortunate, or whenever you are able to give back during this time of year its a beautiful thing," he said. "I'm fortunate to be a part of this. It's a no-brainer. When you can bring a smile to a baby's face or a toddler or a single mother, or just somebody in need, that's always a beautiful thing."
The children were stoked about Santa Claus. The mothers were ecstatic to see Jadakiss, who received a key to Jersey City last year for his charity work. He teamed up with a local McDonald's in 2013 for another toy drive.
"Bringing all these people down here and putting this event together for the mothers and their children makes them feel valued and cared about and loved which is really the point of all this," York Street director Susanne Byrne said.
"I haven't had a celebration like this in years," Cedella Burroughs, a mother who lives at the shelter, added. "This is my daughter's second Christmas and so far it is the best that she has had. She's getting everything she wants and everything she deserves. It's a blessing."
Jada's last album, The Last Kiss, was released in 2009. XXL gave it a favorable review while Pitchfork wasn't so impressed.
"If his long, tortuous, and uneventful solo career is any indication, the ability to spit a hot sixteen-- or even hundreds upon hundreds of them- is nothing compared to the grit and determination it takes to face down a roomful of record execs, because The Last Kiss, even more than his previous two records, is exactly the sort of nothing-for-everyone platter that results from too many greedy, insecure hands in the pot."
