Martin Garrix has been one of the biggest rising stars to emerge in electronic music ever since his single "Animals" was released in June 2013 and since became unlikely an international radio hit. Since then he has cemented his status as one of the biggest stars in the genre with a slew of releases like "Backlash", "Virus" and "Wizard," as well as headlining major festivals like Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival. He has been documenting his journey to the top in a video series, "The Martin Garrix" show. Watch the episode below.
This episode follows him during weeklong stay in Amsterdam, where he is from, for Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). ADE is a weeklong industry event where everyone who is involved in the industry or would like to get involved comes together to get business done at conferences, meetings and a few parties across the city. The episode sees Garrix get interviewed by collaborator and friend Dillon Francis and suffer from exhaustion to the extent that he even threw up.
The episode is capped off with Garrix being named the number four DJ in the world by DJ Mag at their DJ Mag Top 100 Djs annual party at the Heniekan Music Hall. There are plenty of star cameos, including Hardwell, Afrojack, Dillon Francis, Garrix's parents, the real MVPs, and Zac Efron who has taken to Djing lately.
The 18 year old DJ/producer made the claim earlier in the year that he had 20 unreleased songs ready for release and he previews one of them in the video.
Garrix sums up his meteoric rise to prominence, "It's been one big dream. It's been pretty bizarre." Afrojack has probably the highest praise saying Garrix will still be at the top of the game for another 20 or 30 years.
In addition to "The Martin Garrix" show, you can watch his set in full from Amsterdam Music Festival, the end of ADE, below. Watch episode one on Garrix's YouTube channel.
