Kesha has had a very trying year. She spent a few days in rehab for an eating disorder before ditching the dollar sign that use to be in her name. Then there's the whole Dr. Luke lawsuit in which Kesha alleges the producer abused her sexually and emotionally. Dr. Luke has since counter sued for defamation. The "We R Who We R" singer took to Twitter over the holiday to thank fans for sticking by her through it all, Billboard notes.
"Been a crazy. crazy year," she tweeted to her 3.65 million followers. "But I'm so thankful for u ... the love and support this year has brought me to tears many times."
She added, "I'm so lucky to have u love u guys hope santa brought u all silk undies."
Kesha's lawsuit claims that Dr. Luke, aka Lukas Gottwald, caused the development of an eating disorder after years of physical, mental and sexual abuse. The suit is a way for the singer to take back her career.
"This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke," Kesha's lawyer said in a statement. "The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time."
The most recent development in the case was Dr. Luke entering a birthday card from Kesha into evidence. It's meant to serve as proof that the singer had romantic feelings for the producer.
Kesha's bright spot in 2014 was her number one hit with Pitbull, "Timber."
