This NFL season has been a huge struggle for Cleveland Browns rookie Johnny "Football" Manziel. The Heisman Trophy winning quarterback couldn't play his way onto the field for the majority of the season, and then completely flopped when he got a chance to prove himself. Former World Series champion Curt Schilling recently tweeted some advice that the young QB should take to heart.
This week, following a hamstring injury and placement on Injured Reserve, Manziel was candid about this approach to the game.
"This is a job for me now and I have to take it a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first," said the 22-year-old, whose antics off the field at Texas A&M made him one of the most controversial figures in sports.
Following Manziel's latest comments, Schilling chimed in on Twitter with:
@JManziel2 Didn't ask for it, but I'll throw it out there. If being the best doesn't consume your every waking thought, do something else.

@thirdneems @JManziel2 FWIW no specific reason to tweet (I'm a Steelers fan)!! Just love to see amazing talent pushed to its limit — Curt Schilling (@gehrig38) December 25, 2014
No one can accuse Schilling of not going all in. After his Hall of Fame-worthy playing career, he poured all of his money into a video game company that went bankrupt. He's also recently been in the news for his anti-evolution views, which led to this gem of a social media dialogue.
@stoolsalesguy @JManziel2 Had to learn what that actually meant in terms of work though. He'll get it, want to see when that happens... — Curt Schilling (@gehrig38) December 25, 2014
Then...
@mjarvisinla @JManziel2 Well done, I see what you did there... — Curt Schilling (@gehrig38) December 25, 2014
Too good. We'll see if Manziel takes Schilling's advice (or even acknowledges it), but Browns fans would surely be delighted a more focused, serious Johnny Football in 2015.
