Winter is coming. Okay, maybe it's already here, but while you wait for Game of Thrones to return to HBO you can also look forward to the Catch The Throne mixtape inspired by the series. The latest addition to the project is metal band Anthrax.
Not many details have emerged on the follow up to last year's mixtape — featuring appearances from Big Boi, Wale, Daddy Yankee and more (listen below) — however, the band posted a photo to Facebook yesterday showing Scott Ian in the studio with the caption, "Stay Tuned ... #CatchTheThrone #ANTHRAXalbum2015."
"All of you out there who watch Game Of Thrones, much like me, probably think it's a very metal TV show," Ian recently told Metal Hammer. "And just know: the reason for that is that one of the creators [D.B. Weiss] is a huge metalhead."
What's more: the band is headed to the Westeros throne room on the set of HBO in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to record drums for their upcoming album.
"I asked Dan, 'Hey man, what would be the possibility of us recording the drums for the next album in the throne room?' Like we bring a mobile studio and set up the drums, mic everything and record in here. He says, 'Oh my God, that would be the sickest thing ever. We know the guys that can make that possible.'"
According to Metal Hammer, Anthrax's 11th album will be released in 2015.
As Billboard notes, Killswitch Engage has also confirmed their involvement to the upcoming mixtape, though the full list of contributors has yet to be announced. Season five of Game of Thrones is set to premiere on HBO in spring 2015.
