All Jennifer Lopez wanted was her happily ever after with Marc Anthony, and when that fell apart, none of her fans knew her secret pain... until now. On Wednesday (Dec. 31), the "Booty" singer's HBO documentary Dance Again premiered and the mother of two finally opened up about the end of her marriage.
The documentary, which showcases Lopez as she travels on her first-ever world tour, also happened to take place in the midst of her divorce from Anthony, which was finally finalized in June 2014.
The documentary takes an unprecedented look at Lopez's life, and the typically composed pop star even broke down in front of the cameras about her split.
"I remember being on the set and being in my dressing room and not feeling like I could get up in the morning and there's just no pain like that. There's no pain or failure like going through a divorce," she said. "That hope, that dream, that fairytale, with that first time that dream gets blown to pieces, you feel like you're going to die. You feel like you failed. You feel like no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make it work."
Lopez also opened up about how the divorce affected her young twins, Max and Emme, who were traveling with her on tour and separated from their father. Emme in particular took the distance from Anthony hard and carried something special to remember him by, a heart-shaped necklace that she bought herself.
"This is so I can always remember my daddy," Emme said.
The split from Anthony was Lopez's third divorce. She previously broke up with Ojani Noa in 1998 and Cris Judd in 2003. Her and Anthony were married for seven years.
