If you've ever wanted to fly high like the king of rock 'n' roll himself, Elvis Presley, you may soon have your chance... if you have $15 million, that is. Today (Jan. 2), it was announced that two of Presley's old jets, "Lisa Marie" and "Hound Dog II" will be going up for auction in California.
Presley's jets are set to rake up a pretty penny at the auction, according to Yahoo! News. The pair of personal jets are set to go on sale at Julien's Auctions in California and are aiming to go for between $10 and $15 million.
Presley purchased the two jets in 1975. The first plane, which he named "Lisa Marie" after his daughter Lisa Marie Presley features a wash basin and penthouse sleeping quarters. Presley purchased the aircraft for $250,000 back in the day and put $300,000 into customizing the jet. While waiting for the "Lisa Marie" to be completed, Presley also purchased the eight to 10 passenger plane "Hound Dog II" for $900,000.
So, it's quite the hefty turnaround for these two planes!
Unfortunately for fans who may hope to actually ride in the sky on Presley's planes, the "Lisa Marie" and "Hound Dog II" are no longer cleared to fly. The jets have been on display at Presley's Graceland estate for the last 30 years.
The contract between the planes' current owners and Graceland is set to expire in April, hence the pieces of rock 'n' roll memorabilia being sent to auction.
