One Direction fans have always known how to make a lot of noise on Twitter - barely a day goes by without at least one 1D-related topic trending on the social media site. And now, one of Louis Tomlinson's tweets from 2011 has become the second-most re-tweeted message of all time, surpassing a big message from President Barack Obama.
The tweet, in which Tomlinson expressed a deep fondness for his One Direction bandmate Harry Styles has now been re-tweeted 786,958 times (as of press time). The tweet, which dates back to Oct. 2, 2011, has been the source of a lot of hope for "Larry" shippers over the years.

Due to the intense fandom, it has now become the second-most RT'd message on Twitter, beating out when President Obama announced that he had won the 2012 election.

Obama's message, which features a photo of the First Couple hugging, has been re-tweeted a mere 757.759 times. Obama's tweet was sent out on Nov. 6, 2012.

Neither Tomlinson and the Directioners nor supporters of Barack and Michelle Obama can beat the power of the Oscars and Ellen DeGeneres. During last year's ceremony, the comedian promised to break Twitter and get the most re-tweeted image on the site. The selfie, which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie and Lupita Nyong'o, has been RT'd over 3.3 million times.
