Eminem has had a monster past two years, releasing a record setting studio album and growing his label Shadyville Records into one of the most well respected imprints in hip-hop. There were reports out earlier today that Eminem would be releasing a new album in 2015 titled Roots and was expected to feature the likes of Dr. Dre and Xzibit. However, that appears not to be the case. A spokesperson for Eminem's camp, Dennis Dehhey, refuted the claim to MLive saying the rumors were "completely untrue," Dennehy wrote. "There's no album announcement coming."
According to the reports, an announcement about the album was expected to come during Grammy week, though it is not clear what form the announcement was supposed to come in or when it would have happened exactly.
Surrounding the Grammy festivities, Eminem is looking to add to his total of 13 Grammy wins in his career with another 3 nominations this year. His album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is up for a Best Rap Album, while he is also earning nods for Best Rap Performance with "Rap God" and finally Best Rap/Sung Collaboration alongside Rihanna for "The Monster."
Eminem's last album was his aforementioned 2013 effort The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Though it is disappointing to hear that the rumor isn't true, Eminem is always hard at work in the studio, so it likely that some music will be coming soon. "He goes to the studio like most people go to the office," Paul Rosenberg said to MLive. "So five days a week, typically Monday through Friday, he'll be in the studio.
2014 saw extensive touring with Rihanna and the release of his Shadyville compilation, Shady XV, highlighting the artists on his record label including Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf, so we will see what 2015 has in store for him.
