Meghan Trainor has revealed she teamed up for a duet with none other than One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, British newspaper The Sun reports. The song they wrote together was called "Someday Maybe," however with Styles' 1D duties, it might not be released until he is no longer committed to the group.
"It's a duet. It's a beautiful song we wrote together on my ukulele. We even recorded a rough demo together with our vocals together. It's a cute acoustic love thing," Meghan confirmed with The Sun. "It's one of the first cool things I got to do with a pop star."
After she found out Styles was a fan of hers and would love to write with her, the "Lips Are Movin" singer said she was nervous for what might happen.
"A friend of mine said Harry was a fan and said he would love to write with me. He's an incredible writer, too. I was worried he'd just be a 20-year-old boy," she told the Sun. "So I walked in with a prepared verse and chorus. But he gave me very poetic, mature lyrics. I was like, 'Well, damn, Harry, you know what love is.'"
Although collaborating on love songs sometimes leads to falling in love, Trainor claims it was strictly business between the two of them and that romance wasn't on her mind.
"No, definitely not - we're good friends," she said. "But I adore all the One Direction boys. Every time I meet them I'm like, 'Hi, you're all perfect.' But they're One Direction. And I'm just a girl from Massachusetts. Plus, I can't date another pop star. They're all too busy."
Trainor has had a big year after bursting onto the scene with her breakout hit "All About That Bass." She is currently nominated for two Grammys, Record of the Year against Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Sia, and Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX, and Song of the Year against Hozier, Swift, Sia, and Smith.
