It may be hard to think about summer with the snow from snowmageddon 2015 falling with a vengeance outside the office, but news of festivals seemingly just over the snow bank makes things just a little bit warmer. The most buzzed about festival in the world of 2015, according to one source, Tomorrowland has just unveiled the first artist who will be performing at the Belgian electronic music festival this year and it is not someone you would expect. The ID&T produced festival has also revealed the dates for its 11th edition on the grassy fields of Boom, Belgium, as well as ticketing information.
The first artist who will be taking the stage -- or at least a stage -- at the festival will be the Belgium National Orchestra, who is now being dubbed the "Symphony Of Unity." According to a tweet by Tomorrowland, the symphony "will curate a unique atmosphere at the Opera on Sunday." It is unclear what the opera is in the context of a large dance music festival, but it could be a special area put aside for the symphony.
This is not the first time dance music has mixed things up with classical music. UK dubstep trio Nero worked with the BBC Philharmonic to create some sweet, sweet music, reworking tracks from Nero's album Welcome Reality. Electronic music composer and producer, BT frequently works with orchestras on this own productions and recently launched the project Electriconic Opus, which integrates an orchestra in a 21st century manner into his own complex electronic compositions.
In addition to the intriguing choice of first lineup selection, snubbing big time DJs for that honor, Tomorrowland announced it would be making its return to Boom July 24 to July 26. It has also given details on pre-sale for the general on sale date Feb. 7. Global travelers can purchase a complete package, which includes travel and festival ticket now. Head to Tomorrowland's website for more information.
