Melissa Rivers Slams Yorkville Clinic and 'Groupie' Doctors with Lawsuit Over Joan Rivers's Death

Well, we knew this was inevitable, and now it has happened. Melissa Rivers has finally, officially filed a malpractice lawsuit against the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic and everyone who played a part in her mother Joan Rivers's untimely death last September, according to Fox Business. In the suit, lawyers for Melissa claim that each staff member acted more like a groupie doctors than a bunch of caregivers, and when it was clear there was an emergency, Joan's personal doctor left the room in an attempt to distance herself from the mistakes that had been made.

TMZ was the first outlet to get its hands on a copy of the filing, and it reports that, "The lawsuit claims gross medical malpractice, alleging during the 20 minutes doctors tried to bring Joan back to life, they didn't think to perform a tracheotomy, which facilitates breathing. Melissa says, 'The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible,' adding, 'Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better.'"

Melissa also pointed to her mother's physician, Dr. Gwen Korovin, who legally should never have been in that procedure room at all, being more concerned with taking photos then making sure that Joan was stable throughout the procedure.

Also interesting is the fact that a tracheotomy was never performed while the doctors were scrambling to save the comedienne's life. Had they decided to do that, then there is a good chance Joan Rivers would still be here.

How do you think all of this is going to play out? Will it be in private proceedings, or is Melissa going to want news coverage every step of the way so everyone understands just how many mistakes were made? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
