David Bowie released his 'I'd Rather Be High' video [WATCH]

David Bowie's music video for "I'd Rather Be High (Venetian Remix)" is pretty straightforward. The Next Day Extra song speaks of the realities of war, "Politics and all / I'd rather be high / I'd rather be flying / I'd rather be dead / Or out of my head / than training these guns on those men in the sand."

Mimicking the sentiments of the lyrics, the Tom Hingston-directed video shows hazy World War II images of soldiers marching and fighting, juxtaposing them with distorted footage of them dancing and walking in parades. Words from the song flash in different fonts, and Bowie himself makes a few appearances in x-ray filtered images.

This is not the first video for song. Last month, it appeared in a minute-long ad for Louis Vuitton in which Bowie plays up the harpsichord vibe and sings at a French Revolution-style party.

On December 16, "I'd Rather Be High (Venetian Mix)" and James Murphy's remix of "Love is Lost" will be released on 12" white vinyl in a unique die cut sleeve designed by Jonathan Barnbrook.
