A trio of K-Pop stars—Ailee, San E and Jay Park—will take part in a "world" tour featuring five North American dates during March. K-Pop acts are branching more and more into waters outside of Asia as the genre develops an audience in Europe and the United States but, as Billboard points out, rarely do acts actually tour together. Generally one act plots a few dates across the United States and can do well enough. The "Unite The Mic 2015 Tour" serves as a great sampler for those wanting to check the scene out...or as a great deal in general for American K-Pop fans.
Ailee hashed two no. 1's in South Korea with "U&I" and "Shower of Tears," while San E topped the Korean Hot 100 with "Break Up Dinner." Park is already familiar to American audiences as he just played a trio of dates with the hip-hop group AOMG during November. San E played one show in Los Angeles during August and Ailee actually headlined a Grammy after-party (it should be noted the pop-star grew up in New Jersey, so it's not exactly new territory for her).
The current tour was assembled by way of Krowdpop, a crowd funding-style service where fans vote for locations for bands to perform. The trio found it was most in-demand at five North American cities and, perhaps less surprising than you would think, in Istanbul. "Unite The Mic" will kick off in Turkey on March 17 and then fly to the United States.
