After appearing in court yesterday, Bobby Shmurda (born Ackquille Pollard) might finally be getting out of jail. The rapper, who is currently locked up on a variety of charges, has reportedly secured a bail bondsman to put up his $2 million bail. Ira Judelson, a bondsman to the stars, will front the money as early as next week, Bossip reports.
"At the end of the day, I'm their bank. I'm the one who is going to be putting up the money to secure their appearance in court," Judelson told following yesterday's hearing. "Bobby is relying on me to put up the $2 million to get him out the door, get him back to his family and get his music career back on track."
This news was confirmed by Pollard's new lawyer Kenneth J. Montgomery who told Complex that "a 72 hour surety is attached and the package has to be examined by the Government. If approved, he is released. If not a hearing would be scheduled to litigate any issues."
The 72-hour provision allows the court to investigate the source of the money in the event that it was posted using illicit funds.
As previously reported, Pollard, his fellow Epic Records signee and the other members of his GS9 crew all plead not guilty to all charges yesterday in the Manhattan Supreme Court, which lasted more than three hours.
At least 50 people, including Epic Records reps and family members, were present during the proceedings. One by one, each defendant sat before Judge James Burke and plead not guilty. Their lawyers' petitions for reduced bail were denied.
The next hearing is scheduled for April 22.
Pollard and his GS9 crew were indicted on Dec. 18, after being arrested outside Quad Studios in Manhattan the night before. The initial indictment included 69 charges including murder, attempted murder, assault, attempted assault, weapons possession, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, narcotics sales, and criminally using drug paraphernalia. The State later brought an additional 32 charges to the original indictment, bringing the total number to 101. If convicted, Pollard could face 25 years in jail.
