Continuing the stream of all-star performers, three-time Grammy award winner on the night Pharrell came out at the 2015 Grammys to perform his hit single "Happy," which had just won Best Pop Solo Performance 20 minutes prior. He took the stage with a large cast of performers at his side decked out in a bellhop uniform, switching out pants for shorts and shiny gold shoes.
Before launching into the song he starts off by speaking to the heavens with echoes coming back to him in differing languages like Spanish and French. After the somewhat abstract opening where Pharrell slowly walks down the stairs, he completely flips the switch and commenced with his rendition of "Happy." He was joined on stage by a large group of black-leather clad dancers and a more dancers who filled out the aisles shaking tambourines in white church robes backing up Pharrell with the chorus of "Happy."
Since it is the Grammys, a performance would be incomplete without some star guest performances. Celebrated Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer played guitar and pianist Lang Lang added his own flare to the song with a somewhat oddly placed piano solo.
Pharrell finishes the performance by calling out to God, "I forgot to say it earlier, but I am at your service lord." Watch the performance below.
Pharrell has been nominated four times at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards and has already won three times. He has picked up trophies with "Happy" Best Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance and he edged out Beyoncé on Best Urban Contemporary Album.
