Following the success of her 2014 album 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia has confirmed that's she's finished work on a new studio album titled This Is Acting. According to NME, she has already written and recorded the album. She told the publication that she had only put out 1000 Forms of Fear to get out of her publishing deal.
"I was planning to be a pop song writer for other artists," she told them. "But my publishing deal was as an artist so I had to put one more album out. I didn't want to get famous, so I kept all the songs I wanted and had a lot of fun making it."
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for Sia, she did earn a lot of recognition for the album, which spawned hits like "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart," which have both been performed on numerous talk shows and awards ceremonies. That success urged her to write more music.
"I'm super productive," she told them. "I have a full album ready to go and it's much more pop. I'm calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn't go in thinking 'this is something I would say'. It's more like play-acting. It's fun."
Prior to entering the spotlight herself, Sia wrote songs for superstars such as Beyoncé, Eminem, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Jessie J, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Celine Dion, and more.
Sia was also recently featured on Kanye West's new song "Wolves," which she helped him perform on Sunday night at Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary special.
No word yet on when we can expect to hear This Is Acting, but if it's anything like the music she's written for pop stars in the past, it's sure to be chalk full of hits.
