Zack Galifianakis' Funny or Die show Between Two Ferns brings a little holiday spirit with its latest episode featuring an eclectic group of guests, including Toby Maguire, Samuel L. Jackson and Arcade Fire with a odd, understated rendition of "Little Drummer Boy."
As usual, the segment begins with an awkward encounter, appropriately set between two ferns. There's a slight confrontation between Galifianakis and Maguire as to whether or not you say "one" when counting down the start of the show from three. But Maguire is quickly put in his place as Galifianakis tells him privately behind a sheet of paper, "You have to keep your f---ing mouth shut...This is a Christmas f---ing spectacular, okay?"
They discuss some of their various film projects from the past, why there are so many super heros, who's worthy to play one, etc. Galifianakis hands both actors a copy of his film The Campaign, which they both return to him, but Jackson says he actually enjoyed him in the film. Only because he saw it on a plane so he was basically held captive.
Arcade Fire shows up at the end to perform their unique take on the holiday classic "Little Drummer Boy." The performance was apparently captivating enough for Galifianakis to pull out his cell phone and record the band. Or not. Turns out he was just using the reverse camera to check his teeth. Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler lost interest toward the end of the song and lit up a cigarette.
