'Beyoncé' set to remain No. 1 on Billboard 200 for second week as new album gets physical release

Beyoncé is just ruling December; there's no denying that. The "XO" singer released a surprise album last Friday (Dec. 13), and in just three days, the set sold over 617,000 copies and got a No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. Now, it's looking like Queen Bey is going to do it again.

According to Billboard, Beyoncé is set for a second week at the top of the charts. According to the sales tracking site and Nielsen SoundScan, Beyoncé's self-titled fifth studio album should sell between 260,000 and 280,000 this week, easily landing it a No. 1 slot in a typically sleepy December release month.

That means, that if Beyoncé meets that goal, she will match first week sales from some of pop's other major female music players. Katy Perry sold 286,000 copies of Prism in the first week, Miley Cyrus' Bangerz moved 270,000 copies and Lady Gaga's ARTPOP debuted with 258,000 albums sold.

The second-week album sales won't just include iTunes downloads like the first three days of the record's release. Beyoncé was set to hit retail stores sometime between Dec. 18 and Dec. 20, depending on how long it takes for the physical copies to ship to individual stores.

Beyoncé is the first female solo artist to debut at No. 1 with her first five albums.

The album, though released as a surprise, does not come without promotional singles. "XO" is being released to pop radio, while the Jay Z featuring "Drunk in Love" is getting promoted to urban formats.
