It's not a good day for Selena Gomez fans in Asia and Australia. The "Slow Down" singer has cancelled the last two legs of her Stars Dance Tour in order to take some personal time.
According to Billboard, Gomez was booked to perform 13 shows in the Eastern continents, with five shows in Australia and eight in Japan and Southeast Asia. The tour cancellation happened suddenly this morning (Dec. 20).
"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me," Gomez said in a statement to Billboard via LiveNation.
Gomez was set to begin the final part of her Stars Dance tour on Jan. 16, 2014, with two shows in Tokyo. Gomez was set to perform in China, Malaysia, Philippines, Austalia and Singapore through Feb. 21.
Gomez wrapped up the North American portion of the Stars Dance Tour on Nov. 26 in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The now-canned tour was in support of Gomez's first fully solo album Stars Dance, which was released in July to mixed reviews and a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
