Earlier this week, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend released their heartwrenching new single "Run Run Run," a duet that was seemingly a cover of Tokio Hotel's song of the same name. But when Tokio Hotel weren't credited as writers for Clarkson's new song, fans started to question what was really going on; had Clarkson stolen a song? Now, in a series of tweets, the "Heartbreak Song" singer revealed that she had only just heard the Tokio Hotel version of the track and that neither she nor the German rock band actually penned "Run Run Run."
"Wow, just heard @tokiohotel version of Run Run Run! So great! Had never heard that before?! Some fans brought this to my attention," she tweeted. "Only version I've ever heard of Run Run Run was a piano/vocal by 1 of the writers that was sent to me 2 years ago??"
Clarkson, shying away from any controversies, seemed to be proud of the songwriters for writing such a "great song," before saying she meant absolutely no slight on Tokio Hotel.
Well, there's 2 versions of a great song! :)

Also, they weren't included as writers of the song because I guess they didn't write it according 2 publishers. Not trying to disrespect them — Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
It's a bummer that I wasn't given all the information and that it looks like I'm ripping them off because I would never do that 2 any artist — Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
Legend joined Clarkson on celebrating the "Run Run Run" songwriters, remarking that historically, two artists releasing the same song was the norm.
@kelly_clarkson the history of music is filled with multiple artists singing versions of the same song. Congrats to the writers!! — John Legend (@johnlegend) February 27, 2015
"Run Run Run" is a new song from Clarkson, on her new album Piece By Piece, which will be released on Tuesday, March 3.
