Now that Grammys buzz has started to settle, Iggy Azalea, who recently left Twitter, is claiming that she was relieved she didn't win any awards because at this point it would only fuel the haters.
"I did not want to win that award," she told LA's Power 106. "My speech would have been like, 'F*ck this. I don't want it, take it. Get it away from me'."
Azalea continued: "People already hate me enough. I do not need to be hated anymore."
Although she is glad not to have won, she did point out the perceived hypocrisy of critics that frowned on her nomination as cultural appropriation.
"I found it to be kind of ironic," she told them. "It was because I'm white, therefore I'm appropriating culture, but then Eminem won it -- who's white and won it many times -- and they didn't seem to say anything about that. I suspect it was just because they dislike me."
Elsewhere in the interview, she talks about how hip-hop was once again overlooked at the Grammys this year, citing DJ Mustard's absence from the nominees as disappointing.
"I was really disappointed especially that Mustard didn't get nominated for producer because I feel like hip-hop was kind of overlooked, and I am disappointed about that because it's impactful and global and everything we do is really influenced by [the genre] in one way or another," she explained. "So to have it be swept under the rug this year, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't really have that represented in that category, especially with Mustard because every song sounded like a Mustard beat. That was someone who really impacted culture in some way this year, and it was a shame not to see him be represented."
She also discussed her alleged sex change and allegations of racism.
