Despite the ongoing battle between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records over the release of Tha Carter V and payments to Young Money and its affiliated artists, Weezy is still working on new projects to keep his fans happy while they wait for the album. New footage has appeared online from the set of Lil Wayne's music video for his Sorry for the Wait 2 track "HollyWeezy," via Lil Wayne HQ.
The short and dark clip captures the mood of the video, which shows the apparent figure of Weezy on a backdrop that flips between stormy skies and cityscapes from Hollywood, Houston and Hollygrove. There is no release date for the video, but it is good to see Wayne putting some more resources behind songs from the mixtape since he is unable to do anything with his album. Watch the clip below.
Carter has new music coming this month as well. Continuing the theme of free music, the New Orleans rapper is getting ready to drop his The Free Weezy Album sometime in March, though a specific date has not been announced.
There has been little news about the nasty lawsuit fracturing the YMCMB camps. Weezy has not commented on it since his Rolling Stone interview, in which he said, "I have no words. I'm super numb to it, to tell you the truth."
Tha Carter V is still locked away and may never see the light of day as the centerpiece of the $51 million lawsuit being levied against Birdman and Cash Money by Wayne and Young Money, but at least the album is done.
"It's super-done," Wayne admitted. "Cake baked, icing on top, name on top, candles lit. I would have released it yesterday if I could. But it's a dead subject right now. It's a jewel in the safe. It's that stash-house money."
