Sam Smith, John Legend Collaborate for 'Lay Me Down' Remake for Red Nose Day 2015 [WATCH]

If there are two crooners out in the game these days that can sell a heartbreaking ballad like no other, it would have to be Sam Smith and John Legend. And now, the duo have teamed up for a new song. Today (March 9), the Grammy winners released a new version of Smith's In The Lonely Hour single "Lay Me Down" for British charity Comic Relief's Red Nose Day 2015.

The Smith/Legend version of "Lay Me Down" strips away the additional strings and drums that appear near the end of the original version, keeping it sweet and simple with just Legend accompanying the vocals on piano.

Though the first chorus and verse of the song were rerecorded, they sound the same as the In The Lonely Hour version. It's not until he second verse that things get shaken up, when Legend takes the vocal reins from Smith. His silken smooth voice and hushed heartfelt voice blends with Smith's perfectly, creating a new tender version of an already classic song.

The Smith/Legend version of "Lay Me Down" is out now at all digital retailers, and the track is acting as the official single of Red Nose Day.

Comic Relief, which seeks to eradicate poverty around the world, will host its biannual Red Nose Day on Friday, March 13. Smith and Legend will perform the song live during the event.
